To my friend Maggie,
Always there for a laugh. You were a loyal friend, caring, kind, and a beautiful soul.
The things that will forever make me smile and think of you.... - How much you loved playing snake on your Nokia. - Your willingness to let me cheat off of you on any test as you knew I wasn’t exactly an academic. - The softball team. I have a vivid picture of you in my head wearing your Jericho softball sweatshirt with your softball pants and cleats (I also have a hard copy in storage somewhere that I will cherish forever).
We would sit on the bench, eat sunflower seeds, make jokes and just hang. - I remember you standing at the door of my math class and making me laugh for whatever reason that day. When you saw me from the hall, you would stop and back up and make me laugh. - All of our limo rides. - The way you would say “Saaaaandra” about my mom. - That time we pulled up to my gate in the hamlet and the security guard told me he didn’t work there and I said “what do you mean you don’t work here?!” I assumed he had the real guard tied up under the desk. I can still feel our fear. We laughed about this for years. You never minded that I was a little nuts. - Your pet guinea pig. - Your love for the Yankees. Love is probably an understatement. - When you came to visit Maryland and stayed with me. It was supposed to be a few days but wound up being slightly longer. And we had a blast. - I could go on and on but don’t need to because you will always be in my heart. I will randomly smile thinking about our times together growing up. While we weren’t as close in recent years, when we did see each other it was like nothing had changed. I always loved getting a random funny text from you. And I can’t believe that will never happen again. I went through our texts and laughed a lot. We tried to make plans so many times before the pandemic and we couldn’t make it happen because of life obligations, other commitments, Yankees schedules, and more. For that, I will always be regretful. Maggie, you were smart (one of the smartest people I will ever know), funny, kind, and a great friend. You are a survivor and a fighter. I pray you are at peace and will miss you always. I just know you are having a ball in heaven with all the Yankees legends up there with you. Love you forever, Melanie
